The North Esk Irrigation Scheme, located south of Launceston in Northern Tasmania, is an irrigation scheme for Tasmanian Irrigation consisting of a river take pump station discharging to a 6500ML dam, with a 65km gravity pipeline reticulation to over 60 farmers including pipework ranging from DN160 to DN710. The river take pump station was located on the North Esk River and was complicated by being upstream of the primary water supply for Launceston which restricted construction options and required significant assessment of river hydrology. The pump station included 3x 160kW end suction centrifugal pumps delivering up to 45ML/day to Dalness Dam. The pipeline network consisted of pressure reducing valve stations to control maximum trunk main pressure, with a booster pump station also required for one irrigation zone.

IPD Consulting were engaged by Shaw Contracting to undertake design, documentation and commissioning of the river take pump station and reticulation pipeline network.
